After our lunch at Lucky Red down the street, we made our way to Stay Cafeteria for dessert. I was blown away by the setting and decor. You don’t find much effort or thought put into fixtures and furnishings when it comes to Chinese cafes. It’s refreshing to see a restaurant with beautiful design in Chinatown. The western design is also reflected in their menu items. Mainly Asian desserts with a hint of western culture.

I’m starting to realize my obsession for mangoes. It’s a delicious fruit that pairs super well with desserts and it’s also a refreshing way to end a meal. I ordered glutenous sticky rice balls in mango puree with fresh mangoes and ice cream. Sally ordered mango flavoured shaved ice cream with fresh mangoes. I guess we’re both mango-obsessed. I really enjoyed my dessert. At first I thought they sticky rice balls were going to be standard-sized. They turned out to be smaller and better! the vanilla ice cream brought everything together, yum. Sally’s dessert was not bad too. But I expected the shaved ice cream to be creamier, it tasted like shaved ice instead.

The waiters were attentive and friendly. They immediately seated us and came to take down our orders – not in a rushing way though. We took our time with the menu because it was quite the list. It’s a great place to work if you keep getting distracted at home, plus they have awesome snacks, desserts and drinks.
