Skin + Bones

Skin + Bones

Sally and I ventured east to Leslieville for brunch. We wanted to avoid the insane line-ups during this time of day and found Skin + Bones. With good reviews and no visible line outside the restaurant, we found street parking and got a table. The restaurant was brightly lit by the sunshine that was beaming through the windows. The white walls were a blank canvas for beautiful arrangements of industrial and wooden fixtures. The overall atmosphere was casual with a classy touch.

It might be a tad difficult to decide what to order. I flip-flopped between the Pastrami Benedict, Spanish Chorizo + Chickpea Ragu, Duck Confit Hash, and Buttermilk Pancakes. But I went with Spanish Chorizo + Chickpea Ragu $14 because Chorizo is the tastiest! Sally ordered Duck Confit Hash $14. I don’t remember our food taking long at all for it to come to the table, I just remember how good the ragu was. It was meaty, saucy, and hardy with loads of flavours. I broke the poached egg over everything and slurped it up with my grilled focaccia.

On the other hand, Sally was a bit disappointed with her dish only because it didn’t match the same aesthetics as the one she found online. I tasted a bit of the sweet potato and brussel sprout hash and it was seasoned well.

I tried my best to eat everything but I couldn’t. My tiny stomach didn’t want to expand anymore and I was sad. At least my taste buds were happy! I really liked the overall environment of the restaurant. Wasn’t too bustling but wasn’t completely dead. A great spot for a chill meal with good service.
