I decided to host a dinner for my friends since Fresh City farms sent me a couple recipes, a few salads, and snacks. I was able to bang out 2 recipes within 1.5 hours and feed 5 people. Each meal conveniently comes with a recipe card, outlining all the ingredients and easy-to-follow directions. The meals were about easy to medium in difficulty-level, nothing too advanced! The prep work included cleaning, cutting, marinating – the usual. I even broke out the food processor. Still, I enjoyed the whole cooking process overall and the dishes weren’t something I’d cook-up on a regular day.

It was fun exploring new foods (like polenta) and different flavour combinations. The meals were hardy, visually appealing, and tasty. Cooking for yourself, your family, or hosting a dinner for your friends, these products from Fresh City Farms are pretty decent. And knowing you’re supporting your local community, growers, and farmers makes it even better. The ingredients are sourced in Ontario and delivered within Ontario, too. I found that the meals we ate were really balanced in terms of protein to greens ratio and they weren’t overly rich or heavy.

If you prefer to receive bi-weekly produce bags and come up with your own creations in the kitchen, you can do that as well. These recipe kits and produce bags let you skip the grocery store if that isn’t your thing. You also don’t have to constantly think about what you’re going to make for dinner either! It’s a win for you! On a weekly basis, recipe kits range from $10-13/portion, produce bags range from $28-50, salad jars range from $50-80 (some packages include snacks, smoothies, or cold-pressed juices), and ready-to-eat fresh meals range from $11-13/portion.

If you’re eating out everyday, which, I know a lot of people do, changing your habits and cooking these meals every once in a while is 100% better for your health because you get to choose the amount of salt, oil, and butter that goes into your meal! I just grabbed that percentage out of thin air but wouldn’t you agree? All I know is that I felt good after the meals and I’d definitely order it again. I’m starting to become a fan of well-balanced meals that don’t make me feel like shit or give me indigestion. I guess that’s something everyone has to keep in mind when we get older.

Fresh City originally started in Toronto and now they’re expanding their delivery servers to Hamilton! Hooray! Eat healthy, feel healthy!
