It’s finally here! Mezcal TNT‘s lil bro served up some tasty dishes this past weekend during their soft opening. Located just downstairs, Uno Mas has the same atmosphere and serves tapas and pintxos. What are those, you ask? They are small dishes of appetizers and snacks that are meant to be shared with the table, which means eating family-style! The space is a little larger, filled with wooden high tops and industrial bar stools. Beautiful graphic murals liven up the cave-like space, along with authentic photographs and paintings in ornate and decorative frames. The bar sits at the back of the restaurant, showing off their collection of unique drinking vessels and liquors. I gotta say, their washrooms are pretty cute too!
Ever since they popped up on my Twitter feed, I’ve been waiting to try out their menu. Also, when Chanry mentioned they had raclette, it was over. I was going to put in 110% to be their first customer or make it to their soft opening. Since we’re such dedicated foodies, we made it to both. Chanry, Sid, and I went to their first #SundaySocial, then a couple days later, Matt joined us at their soft opening.

Sitting on the corner of Dundas and Dufferin, The Lockhart has non-pretentious décor, chatty staff and a dark atmosphere. The cocktail menu and the furnishings will easily draw you in even if you don’t catch on to the little Easter eggs throughout the bar. Inside, you’ll find exposed brick walls, wood and metal furnishings, an assortment of chairs, simple murals, a beautiful bull skull, a neon sign saying “all was well”, and a glass bar lined with pennies. If you get a chance, take a seat at the bar. You’ll be able to see all the action and talk to the staff about the menus.

I heard about the new taco and tequila joint through my Hamilton foodie buds! The restaurant is run by chef and owner, Manny Ferreira (former executive chef of Earth to Table Bread Bar) and a hardworking, attentive team. The atmosphere is casual, relaxing and cozy. They’ve got 90’s hip hop bumpin’ pretty loud to set a chill vibe. The space is small and only holds about 25-30 people including the seats at the bar. Don’t be surprised if you have to wait for a table. I’d say the decor is similar to Brux House with wooden fixtures, exposed brick, chalkboard drink menus and a beautifully organized bar. Natural light floods the space through two large windows during the day and dim Edison bulbs set an intimate atmosphere at night. Tables are set with a stack of plates, a tin of eating utensils and napkins, homemade jars of pickled vegetables (enoki mushrooms, cauliflower and peppers) and two sauces in squeeze bottles (also homemade).
