Jax Sweet Shoppe

Who knew this sweet shoppe served brunch! Instead of hitting up another downtown Hamilton spot, I met up with my usual brunch crew in Dundas. We planned on eating at Detour but we found out they had a limited menu, so we skipped over to Jax Sweet Shoppe. A cute little diner in a collonial-looking building right on King Street. The space is small with enough seating for 20 people. It’s a straight-up diner with glossy steel tables, round and colourful chairs, walls filled with photographs, neon lights, and a retro CocaCola cooler with bottled Coke. Along the left are ice cream coolers and cases full of cookies, tarts, and cakes!Read More »

Mildred’s Kitchen Temple

My cousin and I started a monthly routine of getting brunch or dinner in Toronto. He recently moved to downtown Toronto and wanted to explore all the restaurants the city offered. As a foodie I naturally agreed to this monthly idea. We were planning on going to School Toronto for our first brunch outing but they stopped taking names because the kitchen was closing soon, plus the wait was about AN HOUR. This happened around 2pm! I had no idea Torontonians took their brunch and lunch game so seriously.

We headed to Mildred’s Kitchen Temple, hoping that they were still open. We were in luck! They were still taking down names and phone numbers but the wait was still… AN HOUR. We decided to tough it out and headed over to Kitchen Stuff Plus to pass the time.

Brux House

I was searching for a good place to eat lunch when I remembered Quatrefoil’s sister restaurant recently opened on Locke Street. I looked over the menu online and was excited for the prix fixe menu. The branding and the interior design is beautiful, vintage décor with gorgeous place settings. I really admired the light fixtures and the bar set up. Stunning!Read More »
