You might have seen some posts floating around on social media about Merit Brewing‘s one year celebrations. Well, I’ve got some deets for you. Bean Bar | 25th Anniversary
Bean Bar has been a Westdale staple since my high school days. When anyone would mention Westdale restaurants, Bean Bar would be one of the firsts to pop in my head. Their food is great but their dessert selection is what they’re known for. This year is Bean Bar’s 25th anniversary and to celebrate, they’ve made a few changes. A huge mural spans the length of the right wall as an ode to the local community, where they proudly call, home. They’re also expanding their dessert collection by adding local favourites from Donut Monster and Bitten. A few friends and I headed to Ottawa Street to check out Caro, the new Italian restaurant that sprung up in the East end. Right at the corner of Ottawa and Main, this bright restaurant adds to the eclectic collection of shops over there. Sunlight beams in from the two street-side windows of this classically modern space, fantastic lighting for photos. The first thing you’ll notice is the red tiled back splash behind the bar. The huge typographic mural that says “Beloved” and the living wall are also instant eye-catchers. Noodz. Where did this word even come from? Well, I’m sure with the slightly immature minds of many people out there, the word would appear sooner or later. I can’t pin point the exact date when it popped into my conversations with my good friend, Ken, but I definitely remember we joked around endlessly about noodz close to half a year to a year ago. We talked about eating noodles a lot, like it turned into a weekly thing. And of course, our minds needed to give it a better, shorter, more appropriate name, noodz.

I’ve been waiting for the opening of CIMA since the owners’ of Romano’s mentioned it. Once the Cheese Shoppe on Locke closed down, they jumped at the opportunity. I was ecstatic that the restaurant was going to be Italian because it’s one of my favourites! On the corner of Lakeshore Road and Locust Street, Table 34 is in a prime spot for anyone who wants to explore the Burlington food scene. It has a beautiful view of Lake Ontario, sitting directly across from Spencer Smith Park. The Beverly on Locke
The newest addition to Locket Street in Hamilton is the fancy-pants, breakfast and brunch restaurant called, The Beverly.
