Table 34

On the corner of Lakeshore Road and Locust Street, Table 34 is in a prime spot for anyone who wants to explore the Burlington food scene. It has a beautiful view of Lake Ontario, sitting directly across from Spencer Smith Park. There’s also plenty of street parking with free parking on weekends in the nearby parkade, it’s close to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre (perfect for a bite to eat before or after a show), and it stands among some of the best restaurants and shops in town.Read More »

Barra Fion

Tucked away in a Burlington strip mall off of Guelph Line, Barra Fion is honestly a hidden gem. Judging from the outside, I didn’t expect the food or the space to be anywhere near what I experienced that day! So, for real, don’t judge a book by its cover.  Read More »

Apple Crumble Ingredients

Apple Crumble with ‘Naturally Imperfect’ Produce

Cook & Prep Time: 50 minutes  |  Feeds: 4 people

One of my favourite aromatic and flavour pairings is apples apples and cinnamon. The whiff of the sweet apples and spices makes me think of the Autumn breeze, pies, and apple cider. Wherever I see this combo on a menu, I’ll naturally gravitate towards it because it’s like a comforting hug on my tongue.

Ingredients

8-10 no name Naturally Imperfect apples, unpeeled, cored
½ cup sugar
½ cup no name Quick Oats
½ cup all purpose flour
½ cup salted butter
1 tsp cinnamon (maybe 2-3 tsp if you love cinnamon like I do!)

Romby’s Tavern & Smokehouse

A proud supporter of all things local and reasonably healthy menu items, Romby’s Tavern serves the usual pub fare with health conscious dishes sprinkled-in. The restaurant has called St. Catharines home for 30 years and in 2010, the Wilson family continued to run the restaurant with a few changes of their own. A shift in food and lifestyle cause a change in their menu as well. We all know when you go to a pub you want smoked meats, wings, nachos, and all the greasy foods your body can’t handle because, why not? The new owners kept those traditional items and added healthier options for those who prefer not to poison their bodies. Chef Chris gets creative with exciting and fresh flavours in his dishes.Read More »

Pokeh

Canada’s first eatery to serve pokē is located right here in the heart of Hamilton, the Farmers’ Market. Sometimes it can be a maze down there: enter through the doors on Wilson Street, turn right to go to the lower level by using the ramp, continue going straight all the way down the hallway to the ‘Real Food Court’. Turn left and you’ll see Eat Industry‘s wall mural for their ramen bar and across the aisle you’ll find Pokeh! Salar and Jeannie of Meat Ventures have extended their passion and love of food from their successful food truck adventure to this creative and tasty concept of pokē.Read More »

MeNami

I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of Han Ba Tang‘s food all over Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Make sure you check them out if you’re into Korean fusion food and cocktails. Well, the owner, Chae, has ventured into Japanese food focusing on authentic oriental noodles with western sauces using modern presentation and featuring many different types of Sake. Chef Kevin Shin traveled to Kaga (the original town of udon) to train under the udon masters. The day before MeNami‘s grand opening, some foodies were invited to get a sneak peak at the menu.Read More »

Jamie’s Italian Yorkdale

You’ve probably seen Jamie Oliver’s face on the Food Network, around the world, and all over Sobey’s Better Food to Canadians campaign. I remember the days when I’d watch his cooking show, Oliver’s Twist, where he would pump out incredibly simple dishes in a casual and laid back way. His kitchen on-set was fun and bright with bluish-purple walls and a collection of jars and containers for various spices, herbs, and dried goods. His personality was down-to-earth and it just seemed like he wanted to spread his knowledge about food with everyone.Read More »

Sushi Legend

Our family friends highly recommended the restaurant and I also read fantastic reviews on Zomato. Just to be on the safe side, we made a reservation before heading out. The restaurant was easy to find with plenty of parking in the plaza. To our surprise, the restaurant was packed with customers waiting outside. It was a Thursday night and we didn’t expect to see it at full capacity.Read More »
